What's Good: Well, simply put, this is a very entertaining movie. The celebrity voice talent is extremely well cast, and the dialogue is funnier than what is typically found in these kinds of movies – I believe they call them “animated.” And finally, Chris Rock stars in a movie that doesn’t stink (albeit in voice only).
What's Bad: The movie loses steam in its last half hour, the ending of the movie is a little too pat even for a family movie, and while the dialogue is smart and above average for the genre, can’t anyone besides Pixar (The Incredbles, Toy Story) come up with an animated movie concept that doesn’t involve talking animals?!?
Final Grade: B+ If you’re an animation fan, you won’t be disappointed, and even if you’re not, you’ll still have a decent time if dragged along by your girlfriend (especially if she’s 9!).
