DreamWorks Animation Shares On Rise
30/03/06, 7:54pm EST
It wasn't a dream: shares of DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. climbed nearly 9 percent Thursday, after an analyst upgraded the computer animation company behind such gems as "Shrek," and "Antz" citing strong potential for its upcoming feature, "Over the Hedge."

Though many investors are awaiting the expected 2007-2008 contributions from "Shrek 3," wrote Harris Nesbitt analyst Jeffrey B. Logsdon in a client note, "we think investors may be overlooking the potential success of 'Over the Hedge,' which will be released on May 19."

Logsdon, who upgraded the company to "Outperform" from "Neutral," added he sees a likelihood that the company's fall film, "Flushed Away," will outperform their 2005 counterparts, "Wallace & Gromit" and "Madagascar."

"We also believe management is improving its own internal forecasting, which should help alleviate some of the pressure the stock experienced in 2005," the analyst added.

Shares of Dreamworks rose $2.09, or 8.4 percent, to $27.07 in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange, having traded between $22.45 and $41.32 in the past 52 weeks.
