Serkis Talks 'Flushed'
06/11/06, 4:04pm EST
Andy Serkis, who plays Spike, talked about the animated movie 'Flushed Away' with Movies Online.

In the interview, Serkis discusses doing an animated film and how it differs from doing motion capture roles. He comments that everyone assumed he did animated voice work after they saw his work in 'Lord of the Rings' movies, but admits he had never done any at the time. Serkis discusses the lengths of time between recording his voice for the movie and how the characters are developed. While he based the voice of Gollum on sounds his cat made, the idea of what the character of Spike the rat looked like gave him direction for the voice work. Serkis also talked about getting to work with costar Bill Nighy in the studio sometimes and how helpful it was for him.

Serkis additionally talked about current and upcoming projects of his. He can be seen in 'The Prestige' in a small role. Upcoming projects include a couple stabs at directing the actor plans to take.

Serkis also predicted that in the future, doing work for video games will be much more respected than it is now.
